Google is once again making headlines. The tech giant has introduced the BIGGEST upgrade to its Bard since launch. The most recent Google upgrade, known as ‘Gemini Pro,’ has indeed been released. Google has recently introduced Google Gemini AI, its latest and most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) model, as a significant upgrade to its AI chatbot Bard.
According to sources, Google Gemini AI will be offered in three different sizes: Ultra, Pro, and Nano. As the name says, the Ultra size is designed for handling highly complex tasks, while the Pro size is suitable for scaling across a wide range of tasks. And the Nano size is specifically designed for on-device tasks.
This upgrade will enhance Google Bard abilities in understanding and summarising information, reasoning, coding, and planning.
Speaking about the latest upgrade, Sissie Hsiao, the Vice President of Google Assistant and Bard, said, “Gemini Ultra is designed to efficiently comprehend and respond to various forms of information, such as text, images, audio, video, and code. Gemini Ultra has advanced multimodal reasoning capabilities, which enables it to comprehend, elucidate, and produce top-notch code in the most widely used programming languages worldwide.”
Further, he said that Gemini Pro exhibited superior performance when compared to OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 in six out of eight benchmarks. These benchmarks included MMLU (massive multitask language understanding) and GSM8K (Grade School Math 8K), which assesses grade school math reasoning. These results were observed prior to the public launch of Gemini Pro.
MMLU incorporates a diverse range of 57 subjects, including math, physics, history, law, medicine, and ethics. These subjects are utilized to assess both global knowledge and problem-solving skills. On the other hand, GSM8K consists of 8,500 top-notch math problems specifically designed for grade school students. These problems are carefully curated to challenge students’ reasoning abilities through multi-step processes.
Google introduced Bard in February 2023 as a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It was initially powered by Google’s PaLM 2 large language model. Google has recently introduced several new features to Bard as part of their larger effort to incorporate generative AI capabilities into their range of products, including Assistants.
The tech giant introduced Assistant with Bard in October 2023. This virtual Assistant combines Bard’s generative and reasoning capabilities with the Assistant’s personalized assistance. The Bard’s language understanding, complex reasoning, and generative capabilities have greatly excited us as we work towards realizing our vision for Google Assistant. At the time of the announcement, Hsiao expressed that this is a significant advancement towards our goal of providing the most useful personal Assistant in the world.
Speaking about the latest upgrade, Sissie Hsiao, the Vice President of Google Assistant and Bard, said, “The rollout of Google Gemini AI to Bard will occur in two phases. Starting from December 6th, Bard will be powered by a specially tuned version of Gemini Pro. Currently, Gemini Pro offers support for text-based prompts in Bard. However, in the upcoming months, it will also provide multimodal support. Initially, the service will be available in English in over 170 countries and territories. However, there are plans to expand its language support and geographical coverage, including Europe, in the near future.”
He further stated that Google is also planning to launch Bard Advanced. Bard Advanced will grant users access to the tech giant’s cutting-edge models and capabilities. The first model to be included in this offering will be Gemini Ultra, which is set to be introduced in the early months of next year.
Further, Hsiao said that Google prioritizes providing the best possible product experience for individuals using Google Gemini AI. He did not say anything about the monetization part of the product.
At the moment, Google is busy conducting trust and safety checks on its new product. They also plan to launch a “trusted tester” programme for Bard Advanced in the near future, followed by a wider release early next year.
Google is going above and beyond to make its chatbot worthwhile for users by integrating various new features. The tech giant has even integrated Bard with its numerous consumer applications and services, including Gmail, YouTube, Docs, and Maps. Furthermore, it has the capability to analyze YouTube videos and offer responses to specific questions pertaining to the content of those videos.
That’s not just it! The company has even enhanced Bard’s visual search capabilities by incorporating features like the option to upload images using Google Lens and receive Google Search images as responses. Additionally, the chatbot now has the capability to adapt the tone and style of its responses to over 40 supported languages and countries.
It seems that Google is giving great competition to ChatGPT, the first-ever chatbot introduced by OpenAI in 2022.
AI is a new norm. Business owners and entrepreneurs should utilize AI chatbots to enhance customer experience and attract the target audience. Moreover, people who are planning to work in a unique field can consider AI technology for reaching new heights in life. This technology can significantly impact your life.
